The intersection of Winfield and Rosedale Rds will be upgraded in the coming weeks following safety concerns raised by local residents.

Member for Burnett Stephen Bennett said he had been advised by the Department of Transport and Main Roads that widening works would include the installation of a basic right-turn treatment to enable through traffic to safely pass right-turning traffic travelling to Winfield.

Works will also include lengthening a culvert, the removal of some vegetation and the relocation of an existing table drain.

Mr Bennett welcomed the minor widening works at the notorious intersection as a positive result for the community, but said more needed to be done to address the issue.

“While it’s great to see residents’ concerns have been taken seriously and these widening works will commence, I’d like to see the safety works go a step further at this busy intersection,” Mr Bennett said.

“I will certainly be joining with residents to push for further upgrades, including a speed limit reduction.

“We must listen to these residents who fear a tragedy is just around the corner, and act on their concerns before it’s too late.

“It’s an incredibly busy intersection given the number of heavy vehicles, including B-Doubles, that use this intersection.”
