Ambulance ramping at the Bundaberg hospital is at an all-time high.

Member for Burnett Stephen Bennett is calling on the Premier to explain how ambulance ramping has soared despite fewer patients attending the Emergency Department.

Queensland Health data for March 2022 shows ambulance ramping has increased to 36%*.

Official figures show the number of patients presenting at the Emergency Department fell by 10% compared to the same quarter last year. **

Member for Burnett Stephen Bennett said it’s time for the State Labor Government to explain how they are going to fix this health crisis of their own making.

“These are not just number’s we are talking about,” said Mr Bennett.

“These are real people who are in life threatening situations.

“Real people who are being stored on a stretcher in a van or in a hallway because the Premier did not invest in enough beds.

“When governments fail to plan, they plan to fail.”

The Burnett MP said the situation at the Bundaberg Hospital is dire.

“Old waiting rooms have been turned into makeshift wards and our doctors and nurses are doing the best they can with the equipment they’ve got,” said Mr Bennett.

“Exhausted paramedics are doing an incredible job under the toughest conditions, but they are being let down by this government.
“Time and time again, whistle-blowers are coming forward saying they’re being turned away or told to wait because there are simply not enough beds.

“The LNP has solutions on the table including more beds, better triaging, releasing real-time data and giving power back to the frontline staff to make better decisions to improve patient care.

“It’s time for the Premier to stop making excuses and fix Queensland’s Health Crisis.”
