Member for Burnett Stephen Bennett will don the apron once again to raise some much-needed funds for Cancer Council Queensland.

Mr Bennett has ‘tea-ed’ up with the QCWA Burnett Division to host Bundy’s Biggest Morning Tea on Wednesday, June 7 at the Bundaberg QCWA Hall on Quay St.

The highly anticipated annual morning tea is in its ninth year and will feature home baked goods, tea, coffee, guest speakers and raffles.

Mr Bennett said he hopes the event will break last year’s fundraising record of $2000.

“I couldn’t be more proud to represent such a generous, kind and supportive community,” he said.

“Every dollar raised helps to fund lifesaving cancer research, prevention, advocacy and support programs.

“Sadly, cancer touches the lives of many, including thousands of people in our region, so please gather your friends to help us raise funds to ensure the Cancer Council can continue its vital work of providing support for those affected by cancer.”

All funds raised through the morning tea will help support more than 1930 people in the Wide Bay Burnett diagnosed with cancer each year.

Event organiser Bernice Maidment said this year has special significance.

“This year marks 30 years of Biggest Morning Teas,” she said.

“Everyone who comes to our morning tea has a personal story or connection to someone who has or is battling cancer.

“Together we can make a difference to help improving quality of life for people living with cancer.

“So what do you say? Could you spare time for a cuppa, cake and a chat?”

Entry is $5 per person and includes morning tea and a lucky door prize ticket. Tickets can be purchased at the door.

Doors open at 9:00am for a 9:30am start.
