Member for Burnett Stephen Bennett has congratulated the Burnett’s class of 2012, after today’s 2012 Year 12 Outcomes Report by the Queensland Studies Authority showed positive results.
“A total of 83 per cent of the north coast region’s 6083 Year 12 state school graduates achieved a Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE), almost 13 per cent an Overall Position (OP) of 1-5, and 82 per cent were awarded a Vocational Education and Training (VET) qualification,” Mr Bennett said.
“Almost 13 per cent of OP-eligible students who attended a state school in the North Coast region were awarded an OP 1-5, 27 per cent attained an OP 6-10 and almost 74 per cent received an OP 1 to 15, or an International Baccalaureate Diploma.
“In addition, 52 per cent of North Coast students received a VET qualification at Certificate II level, 18 per cent at Certificate III level or higher, and more than 16 per cent were involved in school-based apprenticeships or traineeships.”
The highlight from the Burnett is Isis District State High School, where:
- 20 per cent or more of OP-eligible students received an OP 1-5
- 50 per cent or more OP-eligible students received an OP 1-10
- 100 per cent of QTAC applicants received a tertiary offer.
“Students, parents, schools and their communities should be delighted with these results,” he said.
“The Newman government is exceptionally proud of the 2012 graduates and I congratulate them on their achievements.
“These young Queensland adults are off to a flying start for their transition to work, training or further education”.
