I am delighted to welcome the allocation of $153,835 for six local community groups under the latest State Government funding rounds.

Millions of dollars have been provided across Queensland through the Gambling Community Benefit Fund. Round 76 sees more than $574 million provided to 43,120 applications since 1994. These funds are just one way that the Government returns taxes from gambling activities to benefit everyone in our community.

Organisations within the Burnett electorate to receive funding in this round are:

  •  The Childers branch of the Country Women’s Association, $4,800 to paint the outside of their building
  •  South Kolan Rugby League Football Club, $35,000 to upgrade their facilities
  • Elliott Heads Surf Lifesaving Club, $19,418 to purchase a new vehicle
  •  Sharon State School P&C Association, $31,818 to upgrade the playground and softfall
  •  Turkey Beach First Responders, $33,263 to purchase a new vehicle to help with emergency responses
  • Rotary Club of Childers, $29,535 to purchase a barbecue trailer to help with fundraising

These recipients illustrate the variety of valuable work not-for-profit organisations contribute to the wider community.

It is fantastic to be able to support them financially.

Our local area and residents benefit greatly from these organisations and I am pleased through these grants that they can continue to their valuable work.

The Newman Government recognises and supports the valuable work being done by community organisations and the vital contribution they made to the State.

These grants are designed for approved not-for-profit organisations and are not intended to replace existing sources of support for these organisations.
