Grace_Shop(Opening)2451115A pop-up shop has been established in Bundaberg to raise funds for the ongoing medical treatment of four-year-old Grace Lukan.

‘Shop for Grace’ officially opened today, stocked full of a diverse range of affordable items including homewares, gifts, books, children’s toys, body products and more.

All funds raised from the store will help the Lukan family realise their dream of one day seeing wheelchair-bound Grace, who has Cerebral Palsy, walk.

Member for Burnett Stephen Bennett, who helped to officially open the new store, urged the community to get behind the local family.

“With Christmas just around the corner, it’s the perfect time to purchase gifts for your loved ones at this pop-up shop and help out a local family in need at the same time,” Mr Bennett said.

“I can’t think of a better way to not only shop locally this Christmas, but to support this wonderful family doing it tough.

“The Lukan’s have a long road ahead of them as they try to pull together the funds they need to support their daughter’s ongoing medical treatment… Every dollar spent at this store will go towards Grace’s therapy.

“Our community has a big heart and the support shown to this family has been tremendous so far. I have no doubt that the good people of Bundaberg and the surrounding region will continue to offer their support where they can.”

Grace’s mum, Lucy Lukan, thanked the community for the support they have received.

“We’ve been overwhelmed with the show of support from the community, particularly the pub fundraiser at South Kolan,” Mrs Lukan said.

Mrs Lukan said the family’s goal was to raise $50,000, and the sale of items from the temporary store would go a long way to helping them achieve that goal.

“We’ve got a lot of therapy scheduled for her next year – nearly $50,000 worth of therapy, and it’s not funded,” she said.

“If I can convert the money raised from the store into therapy dollars and reach our goal to $50,000, it was make a huge different for Grace.

“For us, her little gains are huge.”

Mrs Lukan said everything in the store had been drastically reduced.

“Everything in the store has been reduced to 50-70% off, so come in and grab a bargain,” she said.
Shop for Grace, located at 1A Targo Street, is open Monday to Friday from 9:00am-4.30pm, and Saturday from 9am- 12 Noon.

The shop will remain open for the next fortnight.
