Member for Burnett Stephen Bennett is calling on the community to donate to support local kids at school.

CentacareCQ’s school savvy program is an annual back to school resources initiative aimed at children and families who are in need of financial assistance.

Mr Bennett said with the 2020 school year fast approaching, now’s the time to give.

“CentacareCQ are after preloved uniforms and basic stationery supplies, items that will help students make the most of their school year,” he said.

“This time of year can be a stretch for many in our community, but if we can all help out in a small way, it will make a big difference for some young students.

“A big thanks must go to Bargara State School’s 4B class who have done a wonderful job at decorating the donation box at Bargara Woolworths, you certainly can’t miss it.”

There are three donation points in the Bundaberg area; CentrecareCQ on Woongarra St, Take the Plunge Café on Quinn St and the Bargara Woolworths.

CentacareCQ General Manager Shari Jackson said it’s an extremely important initiative.

“We are both proud and thrilled to bring the program to the Bundaberg area after a successful launch in the Rockhampton region,” she said.

“School Savvy will have a positive impact on Bundaberg families that would otherwise struggle sending their children back to school with the right resources.

“Every child deserves the opportunity to access a great education and CentacareCQ is happy to help.

“We would like to thank Bargara State School for decorating our donation bin and to Woolworths Bargara for offering to collect donations for us.

“As a community initiative, community support is vital to the success of the School Savvy program.

“We ask for members of the public to think of School Savvy if they have any preloved school uniforms that they are willing to donate to us as well as any school stationery supplies.”
