Shocking Queensland Health documents reveal the new Bundaberg Hospital is on a ‘code amber’ alert, already facing potential delays.

A Right to Information request has revealed the new hospital is ‘at risk’ of not meeting Labor’s own schedule with the land acquired now subject to a ‘controlled action’ under the federal EPBC Act 1999.

The new Bundaberg Hospital is one of 30
hospital upgrade projects facing delays or major cost blowouts.

Member for Burnett Stephen Bennett said the community is in the middle of a health crisis, but State Labor is only concerned with covering up their mistakes.

“This RTI also reveals the alarming lengths Labor will go to, to block information around delays and cost blowouts,” said Mr Bennett.

“The new Bundaberg Hospital was an election commitment, but we’ve already seen the local Labor member walk back on his promise to deliver a full Level 5 Hospital with all the services we expect and deserve.

“Construction hasn’t even started but potential delays have already been flagged.

“This government has the wrong priorities; they would rather hide the truth than fix the crisis they’ve created.

“I’ve said time and time again, Labor cannot be trusted to deliver projects on-time and on-budget.

“The new Bundaberg Hospital is critical infrastructure, but it is shrouded in secrecy and cover-ups.

“Bundaberg and the Burnett deserve a world-class health system but we’re not seeing that under Labor.

“Only the LNP have has the right priorities and will deliver these projects on-time and on-budget.”
