Local organisations have less than four weeks to apply for funding as part of round two funding for the Queensland Government’s Anzac Centenary Community Grants program.
Applications for funding under the program’s second round will close on 12 August for projects which commemorate the 100th anniversary of the First World War.
I particularly encourage applications from organisations planning commemorative events to coincide with the 100th anniversary of the 1915 landing at Gallipoli.
Communities right across the state showed their commitment to honouring and commemorating the centenary of the First World War with a strong interest for funding available under the first round of the grants program.
It’s important for projects planned to be delivered on or around Anzac Day 2015, that a funding application be made for this round.
The enthusiasm demonstrated in applications for the first round of the $13.5 million program confirmed the high degree of community respect for the sacrifice made by Queenslanders during the First World War.
Funding provides communities with an ability to come together, to tell personal stories that engage and educate future generations about this significant period of our nation’s history in ways that are relevant to them.
Funding of up to $80,000 each for local projects is available to commemorate the centenary of the First World War, and to honour the Anzac spirit in local communities.
The Anzac Centenary grants program is part of $49.3 million the Queensland Government was devoting to Anzac Centenary commemoration events and projects between 2014 and 2018.
There will be further funding rounds throughout the duration of the centenary period through to 2018.
