Rosedale State School students can now continue to play sports into summer and under the shade thanks to a brand new Multi-Purpose Court and Play Gym.

Member for Burnett Stephen Bennett said it was a privilege to officially open the new facility yesterday which was funded through the Smart School Subsidy Scheme and Gambling Community Benefit Fund.

“It’s vitally important to provide our kids with the opportunity to play sports and keep active,” he said.

“Lots of studies have been done about why sport should be an important part of school life and they all share common themes; sport helps children to develop physically, socially and mentally, helping them to cope better with the demands of school life.

“I must congratulate everyone for the great effort that has gone into bringing the new Multi-Purpose Court and Play Gym to reality.”

Mr Bennett said it’s wonderful to be able to visit the school and know that our future is in good hands.

“I’m continually impressed by the politeness and attentiveness of the students at Rosedale, I can’t wait to see what the future holds for them.

“It’s always a pleasure to visit our schools, including a Year 12 Queensland Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Foundation Student Graduation ceremony last week.

“After these visits, I leave inspired by our younger generation and know we can all continue to learn from each other.”
