Access to safe swimming areas, better BBQs, and more walking tracks along the Innes Park and Coral Cove foreshore are a high priority for the seaside community.
Member for Burnett Stephen Bennett conducted a survey following concerns raised over the removal of the Innes Park boat ramp. *
Mr Bennett said more than 60 people from across the region provided their feedback.
“It’s clear that access to the beach and safe swimming areas is most important and needs to be addressed sooner rather than later,” he said.
“Any developments need to be conducted with the utmost care and consideration for the community and environment.
“That’s why I wanted to start the ball rolling on this project early, to encourage the local council and State Government to work collaboratively.”
Mr Bennett has written to both the Minister for State Development, Infrastructure, Local Government and Planning and the Bundaberg Regional Council CEO, outlining the results of the survey.
“Thorough and thoughtful community consultation is absolutely crucial,” he said.
“I’ve supplied the results of this survey to the BRC and Department of State Development and Infrastructure to encourage further research and discussions.
“I will continue to seek transparency and clarity on all local projects and look forward to working together with the community.”
