Member for Burnett, Stephen Bennett, today reminded building industry stakeholders that written submissions to the Parliamentary Inquiry into the Operation and Performance of the Queensland Building Services Authority are due by Friday 21st September 2012.
“The inquiry is the latest step in the Government’s push to streamline the BSA to improve payment outcomes for subcontractors and home owners”, Mr Bennett said.
“The inquiry will look at changes to the setting of licensing standards and regulatory reform that may lower the cost of building a home”, he said.
The Transport, Housing and Local Government Committee held a public briefing on 27th August with members of the Building Advisory Group, the Housing Industry Association, Masters Builders Queensland and the Building Services Authority.
“I encourage builders, sub-contractors and home owners to consider making a submission to this inquiry by the 21st September. A further public hearing is to be held in mid-October, with the Committee’s report to be tabled to Parliament by 30th November 2012.
“Constituents are welcome to contact my office for more information or assistance”, Mr Bennett said.
