Member for Burnett Stephen Bennett has gone into bat for local police officers who are on the frontline of Labor’s crime crisis.
Mr Bennett said local police are expected to do more with less.
“There are 322 fewer police in 18 months across Queensland,” said Mr Bennett.
“This is despite the Government saying there’d be 1450 new additional net police full-time frontline equivalent officers in this term.
“Our local officers simply don’t have the support or resources to keep up with demand.
“The Labor Government is in chaos and crisis and have allowed services to deteriorate during their decade in power.”
Mr Bennett tabled a Question on Notice to the Minister for Police and Community Safety in parliament this morning, aimed at providing support and resources for regional officers.
What are the rules, regulations or guidelines for CCTV in Queensland police stations? Is it a Workplace Health and Safety requirement or recommendation?
Mr Bennett said basic safety and resourcing expectations are not being met across Queensland Police Stations.
“We know there are regional police stations, including some in the Burnett Electorate, who don’t even have CCTV,” he said.
“Our officers go above and beyond to protect our community, but the State Labor Government is failing to protect or support them in return.
The minister has 30 days to respond to Mr Bennett’s Questions on Notice.
