The draft Water Resource (Burnett Basin) Plan 2013 was released on 4 November for public comment and submissions. The new draft plan and accompanying overview report can be viewed or downloaded from the department’s website at www.dnrm.qld.gov.au.
The overview report was prepared to assist understanding of the new draft plan. It summarises the assessments undertaken in developing the plan, explains the plan’s key provisions and the process for finalising and implementing the plan. The technical assessments that were undertaken to support the development and preparation of the new draft plan, including social, economic and environmental assessments, are also available on the department’s website.
Submissions from the public are now being sought on the content of the new draft plan. The steps required to make a properly made submission are contained in the overview report. All issues raised in submissions will be considered by the Minister when finalising the new draft plan.
The department will be holding public information sessions to provide further community input to the plan. The date and time for the information session is:
