LABOR’S Member for Bundaberg has the hide to claim the Labor Government is the only party taking real action to stabilise electricity costs. (NM 4/08/17)
Who is she trying to fool?
Families, businesses and pensioners in Bundaberg and Burnett are clearly hurting because of sky-rocketing electricity prices witnessed under Labor.
What the member for Bundaberg failed to tell you in her heavily spun letter was the fact Labor had been caught out using electricity bills to secretly tax every Queensland household and business by stealth.
Perhaps the biggest spin of all is that she continues to blame the LNP for the 43% power price increase, when in reality these prices were locked in by Labor in 2010.
Ms Donaldson also failed to mention the fact Labor had introduced electricity concessions for asylum seekers and refugees ahead of hard-working Bundaberg and Burnett residents.
She also failed to mention the fact that Labor are planning on introducing a state-based carbon tax to pay for their extreme renewable energy targets.
Remember when Labor loaded up government-owned electricity generators and power companies with billions of dollars of debt in their first budget?
Well every single Queensland household and business is now paying the price for that decision through exorbitant electricity bills.
Ms Donaldson and her anti-business, anti-investment Labor government is ripping off every man, woman and child in our region and throughout Queensland with these outrageous power bills.
Labor created this mess on electricity but instead of fixing it they committed to zero emissions targets and have made a headlong rush towards a 50 per cent renewables target which will cost taxpayers $16 billion.
Labor’s energy policies are being driven by the looney left in an attempt to save Deputy Premier Jackie Trad’s inner-city seat at the next state election.
In stark contrast, an LNP Government will put downward pressure on electricity prices by reducing wasteful expenditure on the network – last time we removed $7 billion of wasteful expenditure.
We oppose Labor’s plan to introduce a state-based carbon tax and will scrap Labor’s 50 per cent renewable energy policy that will drive prices through the roof.
Finally, and importantly, we will stop the price gouging – it was the LNP that referred the Annastacia Palaszczuk controlled energy generators to the ACCC, the competition watchdog, after wholesale electricity prices hit record highs under her watch.
We are all hurting because of Annastacia Palaszczuk’s inexperience and her government’s lack of action.
Every single Bundaberg resident must ask themselves – can they really afford another three years of Labor?
