The latest round of grants from the Gambling Community Benefit Fund has seen more than $177,200 divvied up to Burnett community groups, Member for Burnett Stephen Bennett said today.

Mr Bennett said nine local hardworking community groups throughout the Burnett were set to benefit from Round 88 of the grants program.

The Gambling Community Benefit Fund provides one-off grants to not-for-profit community organisations, with revenues sourced from gaming taxes.

Mr Bennett said he was proud to announce the recipients, which include the Bargara Little Athletics, South Kolan Community Kindergarten, Agnes Water State School P&C Association, Cordalba Primary School P&C Association, Wide Bay Football Umpires Association, Elouera Girl Guide campsite at Mon Repos, Captain Creek Rural Fire Brigade, Pilotlight Productions and the Isis Golf Club.

“These volunteer organisations are the backbone to our communities and this is welcome news for all recipients,” Mr Bennett said.

“This will mean many of these organisations will be able to upgrade their facilities and purchase additional resources to meet the growing needs of their clubs, schools and the community.”

Mr Bennett congratulated recipients and urged other not-for-profit community groups to apply for the next round of the Gambling Community Benefit Fund, which closes at midnight on August 31.
