A new, “one stop shop” online portal will help Queenslanders take control of their lives and plan for the future.
Member for Burnett, Stephen Bennett said the Planning for Life portal provided information on wills, enduring powers of attorney and advance health care directives.
“This portal was designed to help people make plans for their own future, and to support parents, partners and people in their care,” Mr Bennett said.
“We insure our cars and houses, wear a helmet when we ride a bike and wear a seat belt when we drive a car. These sensible safety precautions give us peace of mind.
“Making arrangements for your future health care and financial decisions will ensure your family is aware of your wishes, when you’re unable to express them yourself.
“It’s important to make decisions about your health and finances early, so you are prepared for any unexpected events that may occur.
“Making a will, appointing an enduring power of attorney or creating an advance health care directive is simpler than many people think.
“The Planning for Life portal brings together important information about making plans for yourself, and those you care for and where to go in the event of a dispute.
“The site will also allow people to contact the Public Trustee or the Adult Guardian with questions about decisions relating to health and finances.
“The Planning for Life initiative is a collaboration between the Public Trustee, the Adult Guardian and the Department of Justice and Attorney-General.”
