Member for Burnett Stephen Bennett has welcomed the announcement by Knauf Australia to construct a new plasterboard plant at the Port of Bundaberg.
Mr Bennett said it was great news for the Bundaberg/Burnett district.
He said the development would attract 200 construction jobs and create a further 55 permanent jobs.
“I made commitments to revitalise the Bundaberg Port to allow the port to reach its full potential, and this is another example of a great project that has been achieved through strong teamwork,” he said.
“The gas pipeline is an essential project which will play a major role in boosting our economy and creating more jobs.
“We know the investment of the 24.7 km pipeline will attract many new industries to the region and allow us to continue our commitment to not only many more permanent strong and stable jobs but more importantly opportunities for the youth in our region.”
