Member for Burnett Stephen Bennett has praised the Endeavour Foundation on opening a brand new purpose-built disability unit complex in Bundaberg, which officially opened today.
Mr Bennett, who attended the official opening, said the modern homes would allow people with disabilities more opportunities for independent living skill development within a supportive environment.
“These innovative units will enable people with special needs more independence and will ensure they have greater choice about how they live,” he said.
Mr Bennett said the complex had been made possible thanks to the former LNP Government’s Elderly Parent Carer Innovation Trial, in partnership with the Endeavour Foundation.
“We identified a need to provide accommodation options for people with disabilities, once their elderly parent carers are unable to look after them at home,” he said.
“The former LNP Government committed to $15 million over three years as part of this trial for projects to meet this gap.”
