Local MPs Stephen Bennett and David Batt will host a special morning tea to honour the region’s firefighters on Friday.
The morning tea coincides with Thank You Fireys Day, an annual event which pays tribute to firefighters across Australia.
“Our dedicated firefighters are a rare and genuine breed of selfless unsung heroes who put their lives on the line to help others, and we couldn’t be more proud of them,” Member for Burnett Stephen Bennett said.
“We are hosting this event to show our professional and volunteer fireys just how thankful we are for the incredible work they do to keep our community safe, often in difficult and dangerous situations.
“Each and every time a blaze ignites, our dedicated firefighters are there to protect lives and properties,” he said.
Bundaberg MP David Batt said he was looking forward to sitting down with local fireys over a cuppa to express the community’s gratitude.
“Being a firefighter is difficult at the best of times, but the last 12 months has been particularly tough right across the country,” he said.
“Hosting this complimentary morning tea is a small way we can give back to those men and women who are dedicated to protecting our community.”
Local firefighters are invited to attend the complimentary morning tea, which will be held at the Bundaberg QCWA Hall, Quay Street, this Friday at 10am.
