Member for Burnett Stephen Bennett swapped his suit for pyjamas today in support of the Pyjama Foundation.

The Pyjama Foundation has a local branch in the Wide Bay region which supports children in foster care by providing free learning-based mentoring from volunteer ‘Pyjama Angels’.

Mr Bennett said he was proud to dress down to raise awareness for the important work of the Pyjama Foundation.

“It’s obviously not my usual style, but it’s all for a good cause and if I can use my profile in the community to encourage people to support the Pyjama Foundation, then I’m more than happy to don some pjs for the day,” he said.

“We have 20 Pyjama Angels out in our community who do an amazing job reading to kids in foster care and helping with homework to improve literacy skills and build confidence.

“I would like to encourage everyone in the community to support the Pyjama Foundation – why not host a pyjama party morning tea at your workplace to raise funds for this wonderful cause?”

All donations to the Pyjama Foundation go towards training new Pyjama Angels and other resources.

The inaugural Bundaberg Night Of Style event will be held on Wednesday, August 9, at the Generator (upstairs the Post Office), with all funds raised from the evening going towards the Pyjama Foundation.

Tickets are $35.
