Member for Burnett Stephen Bennett and Casablanca on See’s Natasha Sfettina and her children Airlie and Ryder are looking forward to celebrating our local firies on National Red Balloon Day.
Member for Burnett Stephen Bennett will host a special morning tea to honour the region’s professional and volunteer firefighters on Wednesday.
Mr Bennett said the morning tea was an opportunity to thank urban, auxiliary and rural firefighters for the courageous work they do throughout the year.
“Wednesday February 28 marks the last day of summer, so it seems fitting to reflect on and honour our dedicated firefighters for the incredible work they do to protect lives and properties,” he said.
“Our dedicated firefighters risk their lives to save others every time they don their uniforms. They are an important part of our community and truly are our unsung heroes.
“Showing our support to our firies is important to let them know that we don’t take them for granted and that we do acknowledge the sacrifices they make to ensure we are all safe.”
The event has been inspired by National Red Balloon Day, which encourages people across the country to display ‘Thank You Fireys’ red balloons in prominent locations.
Mr Bennett encouraged people to get involved and help show appreciate for firefighters by flying red balloons from letterboxes, fences or business window on February 28.
Local firefighters are welcome to attend the complimentary morning tea on Wednesday at Casablanca on See restaurant, See Street, Bargara, at 10:30am.
