Member for Burnett Stephen Bennett has urged local farmers, producers and graziers to take advantage of the State Government’s $10 million Rural Economic Development Grants Program.

Applications are now open for “shovel-ready” projects across the Burnett to share in the $10 million.

“In the midst of this long dry period, I’d urge those in the agriculture industry to apply for these grants,” Mr Bennett said.

“Grants up to $250,000 with a matching co-contribution from the successful applicants will be under consideration.

“It’s vitally important Labor does more to help our farmers, while this is a small step in the right direction”

Eligible projects must be ‘shovel ready’ and provide economic benefit to regional Queensland within the first 12 months following a successful application.

Expressions of interest detailing the development idea/plan are due on 26 October 2018.

The Queensland Rural Industry Development Authority (QRIDA) will review these EOI’s before asking for a more formal application against key criteria.
Further information on the grants and how to apply can be found at qrida.qld.gov.au or by calling 1800 623 946.
