Mr Bennett, a white ribbon ambassador, congratulated the Childers Neighbourhood Centre on its initiative to host a visual campaign involving local businesses, community groups and residents in conjunction with Domestic and Family Violence Prevention Month.
“Domestic and Family Violence is a serious problem throughout Australia, and it’s important that we build greater equality and respect between men and women to eradicate attitudes of violence,” Mr Bennett said.

“Early intervention and raising awareness is key in the fight against domestic and family violence, and this local campaign achieves this by empowering people to speak out against the violence.

“It’s great to see so many local residents getting involved in the campaign and standing up against the scourge of domestic violence in our community.”

Mr Bennett encouraged residents to join the campaign by taking a photo of themselves with a placard which outlines their thoughts about domestic and family violence and sharing the photo on social media this month.
