I encourage all licensed local tradespeople and builders to contact the Building Services Authority (BSA) to register their availability for flood recovery work. Local home owners will be encouraged to find local licensed tradies for flood recovery work.
The BSA have some terrific resources to help both home owners and contractors to assist with the repair and rebuilding process. This covers asbestos requirements, hygiene issues associated with mould, information on footings, subsidence and termite protection, and many more.
The BSA website has an excellent YouTube presentation for home owners to follow the rebuilding of a home flooded in the Brisbane floods.
Eligible uninsured home owners can be issued with owner-builder permits to coordinate repair themselves if it exceeds a certain value.
I encourage home owners and licensed contractors to visit the BSA website at www.bsa.qld.gov.au as we begin the rebuilding process.
