Five local artists have embraced all that is the Burnett region in their Queensland Regional Art award entries.

Member for Burnett Stephen Bennett said it’s wonderful to see our coast and farms captured in paintings, glazed tiles and cards.

“These five artists are amazing and they’re all about sharing the beauty of our region,” said Mr Bennett.

“I’m encouraging resident’s to check out their entries online and even have a look at the works displayed in some local shops.”

Gabrielle McDonald, Chris Hurst and Ariella Anderson from Bargara, Colleen Helmore from Burnett Heads and Marilyn Murray from Childers have entered.

The Queensland Regional Art Awards (QRAA) is an annual visual arts prize and exhibition for established and emerging artists living in regional and remote Queensland.

This year, artists were asked to embrace a spirit of adventure to discover something unique about their own community.

Bargara artist Gabrielle McDonald said this award means she can touch base with area she calls home.

“We have so much more to offer as a beachside community and this gives me an opportunity to show off our wonderful town,” she said.

“My works are abstract with an overlay of drawing and liniment silver paint that draws the viewer in and seeks the story of Bargara.”
