• Labor ministers lining up for a selfie outside the Bundaberg Fire and Ambulance Station should thank the LNP for funding the project
• Labor Minister Mark Ryan should use his first media opportunity since being shamed in State Parliament to say sorry to the DV victims across the state he has placed in danger with his incompetence
• Labor like to take credit for other people’s work simply because they have neglected the Bundaberg/Wide Bay region for the past three years and have no record to run on

Labor ministers lining up for a selfie today at the Bundaberg Fire and Ambulance Station should thank the Liberal National Party for having the foresight to fund and construct this much-needed project.

LNP Shadow Police, Fire and Emergency Services Minister Tim Mander said the Bundaberg Fire and Ambulance Station was now several months late under the do-nothing Palaszczuk Labor Government.

He said the minister should also explain why he has cut nine full-time firefighting staff* from the North Coast region ahead of the bushfire season in another show of rank hypocrisy from the Palaszczuk Labor Government.

“This project would not have been possible if it wasn’t for the tireless campaigning by former LNP Bundaberg MP, now Mayor, Jack Dempsey,” Mr Mander said.

“The LNP allocated the money for this project in the 2014/15 state budget – the question has to be asked, why has it taken so long for the Palaszczuk Labor Government to actually deliver this much-needed project?

“The word on the street is Labor delayed the opening to coincide with the state election and to give their disgraced local MP Leanne Donaldson something to campaign on.

“Leanne Donaldson loves taking credit for LNP projects and has spent the past three years riding on the LNP’s coat tails.”

Mr Mander said Labor Minister Mark Ryan should use his first media opportunity today since being shamed in State Parliament to say sorry to DV victims across the state he has placed in danger with his incompetence.

“Mark Ryan likes to blame everyone else for his incompetence, including DV victims, when the real culprit is staring at him each morning in the mirror,” he said.

“How can the Premier continue to have confidence in Corrective Services Minister Mark Ryan when he can’t even properly implement for DV victims new parole alert laws, six months after they were passed by Parliament?

“Not to mention Minister Ryan’s appalling recent manipulation and shocking treatment of the Pullen family at a media conference, where he knew one of their son’s killers was set to be released from jail.”

LNP Bundaberg candidate David Batt said he struggled to identify one new project in the region that Labor had delivered that wasn’t funded and started under the former LNP government.

“Labor and Leanne Donaldson like to take credit for other people’s work simply because they have neglected our region and have no record to run on,” Mr Batt said.

“We know Annastacia Palaszczuk and her union paymasters will run a massive scare campaign because she can’t run on her own record.”
