A Tim Nicholls-led LNP Government will build a Better Queensland by planning for future health services in Bundaberg.
LNP Shadow Health Minister John-Paul Langbroek said a Tim Nicholls-led LNP Government would deliver a Hospital Master Plan for Bundaberg.
“We need to start planning now so we can meet the demands of the growing Bundaberg community in the future,” Mr Langbroek said.
“For too long the Bundaberg community has been ignored by Annastacia Palaszczuk.
“This is why a Tim Nicholls-led LNP Government will establish a hospital planning commission to deliver the masterplan.”
LNP Candidate for Bundaberg David Batt said the Bundaberg Hospital Master Plan would be developed in consultation with the local community and health care professionals.
“It is well documented that Bundaberg needs a new hospital. The LNP is the only party that has committed to take the hospital project forward and develop an actual master plan,” Mr Batt said.
“The current facility is over 100 years old – three generations of my family have been born there. It’s had numerous facelifts and add-ons over the years, and we had to evacuate patients to Brisbane in the 2013 floods.
“Labor has committed to fund yet another feasibility study to examine whether Bundaberg needs a new hospital or they can instead refurbish the existing hospital, but the time for talk is over. Bundaberg residents deserve action.
“This do-nothing Labor Government has commissioned over 300 studies over the past three years – analysis paralysis is killing regional Queensland.”
Mr Batt said Bundaberg needed a new hospital to meet the projected rise in demand for health care in the region.
“The staff at Bundaberg Hospital already do amazing work and we need to ensure that they have the best facilities possible to deliver the healthcare the people of Bundaberg deserve, right here in Bundaberg,” he said.
“We will better support Bundaberg families by ensuring they have access to better health care through developing this master plan for the future.”
