Queenslanders have until Monday to speak up on proposed laws for illegal trespassers who target farms, abattoirs, factories and transport infrastructure.

Member for Burnett Stephen Bennett is encouraging local business owners to have their say on the LNP’s proposed three new laws.

“The laws are designed to protect all Queenslanders and their businesses, not just farmers,” he said.

“By all means, it is more than ok to protest and have differing and strong opinions, but the problem begins when our hard-working farmers are terrorised or vital rail lines are blocked.”

The three new trespass laws include: aggravated trespass with a maximum penalty of $13,055 fine or three years jail; and serious criminal trespass and organised trespass which both attract a maximum penalty $391,650 or 10 years jail.
