The Isis Community Pre-School and Kindergarten has just received a healthy dose of funds, thanks to the latest round of the state government’s Gambling Community Benefit Fund.
Member for Burnett Stephen Bennett announced the funding this week, which he said amounted to just under $29,000.
Mr Bennett congratulated the kindy on the successful outcome of their grant application.
“It’s a real boost for the kindy which is desperately in need of repair and refurbishment,” he said.
“The kindy has a very important role in the community and has supported families of young children with pre-school activities for over 50 years. It’s great to see these funds going towards such a worthy group.
He said the funds would go towards helping the kindy replace the entrance and foyer deck.
Mr Bennett said the quarterly grants allowed profits from gambling to be invested back into grassroots services and facilities that benefited people from all walks of life in the local community.
“These grants can be the difference between keeping these important services in our area and going without,” he said.
“These grants are just one way the Government returns taxes from gambling activities to communities, and helps to ensure that through our community organisations, we all receive some benefit from gambling in Queensland.
“I encourage all local groups, however big or small, to apply for the next round of funding before the end of November 2014 and make the most of this wonderful opportunity.”
