The Isis District Agricultural, Pastoral and Industrial Society show will get a $5,000 boost with funding announced by the Newman Government.
The money has been allocated through Local Government Minister David Crisafulli’s grants program and is designed to ensure communities throughout the region continued to host these signature events.
Member for Burnett, Stephen Bennett MP said the funding for the shows was a vote of confidence by the State in the important role local shows play in communities.
“We all know that money is tight this year,” Mr Bennett said.
“We have a responsibility to make sure every cent counts, and bringing people together to showcase the best in the region, whether it’s cattle, produce or cooking, is a tradition we’re proud to support.”
Many show societies have reported that without State support their annual show would fold.
“The Isis Show is a focal point in our community, and I’m proud of the small role these grants will play,” Mr Bennett said.
“The real heroes are the Show Society members who put in dedicated efforts, in many cases year after year, to provide this highlight for local people.”
