Keen golfers in the Isis District can look forward to a smoother drive into the Isis Golf Club thanks to state government funding.

This week, Member for Burnett Stephen Bennett announce that the club had been awarded $15,000 from Round 88 of the Gambling Community Benefit Fund.

Mr Bennett said the golf club’s entrance was long-overdue for an overhaul, and these funds would assist in upgrading the driveway.

“It’s wonderful to be able to assist local clubs like the Isis Golf Club, which has strong support from the local community and has worked hard to increase membership numbers and participation in a recreational and sporting activity,” he said.

“The course is in good condition thanks to the many hours of work put in by volunteers to maintain it.  The club deserves a driveway that is just as neat and tidy as the course itself.

“First impressions count when it comes to attracting new members, and once the driveway is finished I’m sure it will leave a lasting impression on visitors and potential new members.”

Mr Bennett said Cordalba State School would also receive a funding injection through the Gambling Community Benefit Fund, with $35,000 being awarded to the P&C to install air conditioning and AV equipment.

“I’m delighted to announce that Cordalba State School can now upgrade their facilities with necessity items,” he said.

“It’s a great little school which delivers world class education and now they will be able to give their students even more resources to assist in their learning.”

Mr Bennett said Pilotlight Productions had also been awarded funding through the Fund to purchase audio visual equipment.

He said a total of more than $177,200 was awarded to not-for-profit community groups in the Burnett region.

“The Gambling Community Benefit Fund is just one way the Government returns taxes from gambling activities to communities, and helps to ensure that through our community organisations, we all receive some benefit from gambling in Queensland.”
