BUNDABERG and Burnett residents have been forced to put up with sky-high electricity bills for far too long.

People would shop around for a better deal if they could, but households are chained to Ergon.

It’s a different story in southeast Queensland where residents are spoiled for choice.

It shouldn’t be different.

A family in regional Queensland needs light, heat and sound just as much as a family in Brisbane.

Regional Queenslanders should also have the same freedom to decide who they buy electricity from.
The LNP has a plan to end Labor’s electricity divide between the southeast and the rest of Queensland.

As part of the LNP’s Economic Plan for Queensland, the LNP would introduce reforms to allow other energy retailers to compete against Ergon.

The plan would bring down electricity bills by around $300 through levelling the playing field for electricity retailers in regional Queensland.

The LNP believes more competition in the marketplace is the best way to drive down prices and should not be restricted to the southeast corner.
Competition drives efficiencies and cuts bills.
