Motorists remain at risk at a busy Rosedale Rd intersection despite it having undergone a $381,000 upgrade.

Member for Burnett Stephen Bennett said for years residents have been lobbying to see the Rosedale Rd and Moorlands Rd intersection upgraded but the eventual works have fallen short of expectations.

“I was over the moon when I heard that works were finally going to take place at this dangerous intersection,” Mr Bennett said.

“But today, I am more than disappointed with the result with every single motorist who wishes to turn right on to Moorlands Rd, still at risk.

“I have been approached by many residents with safety concerns over the newly upgraded intersection.

“They have told me they have witnessed multiple near misses since the intersection was upgraded; it’s simply not good enough.

“While the completed work is beneficial for those turning into Fig Tree Terrace, there are still serious concerns for those turning into Moorlands Rd and vehicles who wish to pass them.

“This stems from the lack of a dedicated passing lane or a dedicated right hand turn lane.

“I have written to the Minister for Transport and Main Roads, requesting that he take a look at exactly what work was done here.

“There’s no doubt that the work is of a high quality but it’s completely missed the mark.

“I’m calling on Minister Bailey to urgently make funds available for this dangerous intersection so that a sensible and vital upgrade can take place, before it’s too late.”
