Applications for Community Heritage Grants are now open, Shadow Minister for Heritage Protection and Member for Burnett Stephen Bennett announced today.

Mr Bennett said the program offers grants of up to $15,000 to assist in preserving cultural heritage collections of national significance.

“I encourage not-for-profit organisations such as historical societies, regional museums, public libraries and Indigenous and migrant community groups to apply for the grant,” he said.

Mr Bennett said the federally funded grants program supports a wide range of activities, such as conservation activities, including cleaning, treatment or rebind, the purchase and installation of environmental control and monitor equipment, cataloguing or collection management software, and the preservation needs assessment of collections.

Applications close on May 9, 2016, at 5pm.
