Member for Burnett Stephen Bennett has welcomed today’s announcement that State Government funds have been made available to residents in the Gladstone Regional Council Catchment who have been seriously affected by Ex-Tropical Cyclone Debbie.
Mr Bennett confirmed that the State Government has partially activated the National Disaster Relief and Recovery Arrangements (NDRRA) personal hardship assistance. This will provide some comfort and assistance to those primary producers who have lost so much.
“We welcome all involved in advocating for funding including the Gladstone Regional Council, who have advocated hard to secure funding to support residents who have suffered hardship,” Mr Bennett said.
This assistance will be made available through the Gladstone Regional Council’s Community Advisory Service and appointments can be made by phoning (07) 4976 6300, office will be open Monday the 10th April 2017.
The NDRRA is a joint funding arrangement with the Commonwealth Government and State governments to provide disaster relief and recovery payments and infrastructure restoration to help communities recover from the effects of natural disasters and severe weather events.
In addition to assistance for individuals, $5000 funding from the Sport and Recreation Disaster Recovery Program Level 1 is now available for sporting clubs in the declared region can be used to re-establish facilities and activities that have been affected.
