Community organisations in Burnett have the opportunity to share in a total of $1.3 million in small grants to help fund essential items and equipment.
The funding is available under the third round of the government’s $4 million Caring for our Community program.
The Caring for our Community program recognises how important local organisations are to our communities and our state.
Our government has a strong plan for a brighter future and these grants provide a fantastic opportunity for community organisations to improve their facilities and upgrade their resources.
There have been twelve grants to community groups in Burnett from the two previous rounds of the Caring for Our Community grants.
I encourage local community groups to apply for a grant in this third funding round.
I hope to see an even higher number of applicants from the Burnett community through the grant management software ‘SmartyGrants’ which makes it easier than ever to apply online.
The cost of equipment or infrastructure mounts up quickly for community groups and these grants are a great boost.
Grants are available to cover a wide range of items from printers, computers, fridges or microwaves to shade sails, lawn mowers, UHF radios and sporting equipment.
Small grants of up to $5,000 are available for the purchase of essential items and equipment. A small number of grants up to $15,000 may be available depending on the needs of particular communities.
We understand that community groups are at the heart of what makes Queensland great.
That’s why it is vital for us to continue to revitalise frontline services and support those who help to build more vibrant and inclusive communities.
Applications for grants close on Friday 26 September 2014.
