Member for Burnett, Stephen Bennett likes to remember Grandparents Day as a chance for grandchildren, children and the community to thank grandparents for their love and support.
“Grandparents Day has been celebrated annually in Queensland since 2010”, he said. “This year’s theme is ‘Make your grandparents’ day!’”
“The importance of children maintaining contact with grandparents cannot be underestimated”, Mr Bennett said. “A relationship with a grandparent is a foundation for kids’ development, and it’s great for grandparents too.”
“It’s easy to get involved in Grandparents Day, with the great range of free resources available including posters, postcards and downloadable certificates of recognition for grandparents”, he said. “I encourage everyone to take part in – or organise – an event or activity during November that thanks grandparents for everything they do for us”.
