Families are being encouraged to apply for sports vouchers on offer through the latest round of the hugely popular Get Started funding program which opens tomorrow (Wednesday, July 12).
Member for Burnett Stephen Bennett said the program, part of the former LNP Government’s flagship $48 million Get in the Game initiative, was designed to encourage more young people to get into sport or recreation and ease the financial burden on families.
Mr Bennett said the program assisted families by providing vouchers to pay the cost of sport and recreation club membership or participation fees.
“Round 10 of Get Started officially opens for applications on the 12th of July and provides vouchers valued up to $150 to help kids whose families can least afford for them to join a sport or recreation club,” he said.
“I strongly encourage local sport and recreation clubs and families to check their eligibility and take advantage of this wonderful program.
“There’s a limited number of vouchers available, so I really encourage Bundaberg and Burnett families to apply to give their kids the opportunity to enjoy the fitness and fun that goes along with sport.”
Vouchers can be redeemed at numerous local clubs representing a range of sport and recreation activities.
