Local families are being encouraged to Get in the Game and submit their applications for vouchers through the latest round of the Get Started funding program which opens tomorrow (January 25).
Member for Burnett Stephen Bennett said the program was part of the former LNP Government’s flagship $48 million Get in the Game initiative, assisting Queensland families by providing vouchers of up to $150 to help pay the cost of sport and recreation club membership or participation fees.
“Get Started opens for applications on the 25th of January and provides vouchers valued up to $150 to help kids whose families can least afford for them to join a sport or recreation club,” Mr Bennett said.
“This program was designed to encourage more young people to get into sport or recreation, and to ease the financial burden on families. It was all part of our commitment to help young Queenslanders be active.
“I strongly encourage local sport and recreation clubs, and families, to take advantage of this wonderful program and check if they are eligible to take part.
“There aren’t an unlimited number of vouchers available, so I really encourage Bundaberg and Burnett families to apply to give their kids the opportunity to enjoy the fitness and fun that goes along with sport.
“Vouchers can be redeemed at numerous local clubs representing a range of sport and recreation activities, including rugby league, basketball, netball, and cricket, to name a few.”
