Member for Burnett, Stephen Bennett announced that local organisation Creative Regions will receive $100,000 to develop community arts and cultural development projects, build the skills of artists and artsworkers, and grow the networks and partnerships between creative people in the Central Queensland region.
Almost $1.6 million for 14 arts organisations state-wide through Arts Queensland’s 2013 annual Small to Medium (s2m) Organisations program has been announced, reaffirming the Newman Government’s continued support for Queensland’s arts sector.
Mr Bennett said the funding meant that arts sector organisations could continue running their creative programs and deliver on the Newman government’s election commitment to provide arts for all Queenslanders.
“Creative Regions has proven themselves to be amongst the state’s best by demonstrating their excellence and passing the rigorous assessment process,” Mr Bennett said.
“They have been awarded these funds based on their artistic and cultural quality, their community engagement capacity, management skills and innovative approach. I am delighted to congratulated them on their success.”
Mr Bennett said Creative Regions is one of two organisations new to the s2m annual program.
