Member for Burnett Stephen Bennett has congratulated 12 community groups in the Burnett electorate on their success in the latest round of Gambling Community Benefit Fund.
Mr Bennett said more than $259,000 had been awarded to various community groups throughout the region, including the 1770 Dragons.
“I’m pleased to see that the Burnett has benefited from the Gambling Fund, particularly communities in the northern part of our region who work so hard for their members and their community,” he said.
“The 1770 Dragons will now be able to purchase a brand new boat with the $14,500 they have been awarded through the Fund.
“I look forward to catching the 1770 dragons out on the water with their new boat in the near future.”
Mr Bennett said he was also thrilled to see the Miriam Vale Bowls Club will receive $35,000 to upgrade their club facilities, and Rosedale State School will receive $19,000 to install a playground shade structure
“Groups such the 1770 Dragons and the Miriam Vale Bowls Club play an important role in our communities and I’m committed to ensuring they are supported as much as possible,” he said.
“The Gambling Community Benefit Fund is a way the Government returns taxes from gambling activities to communities, and I encourage other local groups to take advantage of the funding opportunities available.”
Applications for Round 104 will close on February 29.
