Fee-free apprenticeships and traineeships are now available in more than ten industries for Year 12 students who graduated in 2013.

The qualifications in high demand areas were chosen by the Queensland Government and industry.

Together we’re determined to boost the Queensland economy, while also supporting our school leavers to find employment.

The commitment to fee-free training in priority areas was made in the Great skills. Real opportunities VET reform action plan released in June 2013.

Fee-free training will give last year’s Year 12 graduates the opportunity to complete a high priority qualification without the financial burden of student contribution fees.

We are giving Queensland’s students and employers greater choice and access to quality training so that together we can build the Queensland economy.

These 11 fee-free qualifications are be available if students commence their training in the calendar year after completing Year 12.

  • Disability
  • Aged Care
  • Home and Community Care
  • Children’s Services
  • Manufacturing Technology
  • Laboratory Skills
  • Drilling Oil and Gas (on shore)
  • Arboriculture
  • Landscape Construction
  • Parks and Gardens
  • Water Operations

We’ve brought about real reform for the VET sector so that training will lead to real jobs and increased productivity.

I encourage last year’s graduates who haven’t yet finalised their training place to consider a fee-free qualification.
