Kids in Regional Queensland will have more access to a huge variety of sports thanks to the release of another round of FairPlay vouchers said Member for Burnett Stephen Bennett.
Mr Bennett is encouraging families who are strapped for cash to apply for the program that would deliver up to $150 for club membership, team registration, or participation fees.
“From surfing, horse riding and archery, to hockey, gymnastics and rugby league, there’s plenty of sports to choose from and we’re extremely lucky to have access to so many here in the Burnett region,” he said
“I know the upfront costs of getting started in sport can be a strain on family budgets, so this program is designed to help cover some of those costs and encourage children to get out and active.”
More than 95,000 FairPlay vouchers worth $14 million have been claimed since the program began in mid-2019.
Parents, carers, or guardians can apply for a FairPlay voucher if their child is aged 5 to 17 years and they have a valid Centrelink Health Care Card or Pensioner Concession Card with the child’s name on it.
Round 5 FairPlay voucher applications close on 29 September.
