The Agnes Water/1770 community will retain its current state MP, Stephen Bennett, following the Queensland Redistribution Commissioner’s redesign of the electoral boundaries.
There was some concern amongst residents that the redistribution would mean the region would no longer be part of the Burnett electorate.
Member for Burnett Stephen Bennett said he looked forward to continuing to represent the people of the Discovery Coast and was committed to continuing to delivering critical projects for the region.
“I must admit I held some concerns that the redistribution would affect the northern parts of the Burnett electorate,” Mr Bennett said.
“When I found out that I would continue to represent the good people of Agnes Water/1770 and beyond, I was thrilled. In fact, I couldn’t be happier,” he said.
“Please be assured that I remain 100% focussed on giving you strong representation and delivering on those important projects that you deserve, as always.”
Mr Bennett will continue to host mobile offices in the region throughout the year.
