Christmas came early for the Discovery Christian College following the approval of an over one-million-dollar subsidy.

Member for Burnett Stephen Bennett said he was thrilled to make the announcement under the Capital Assistance Supplementary Scheme.

“This $1.25 million dollar subsidy will certainly be put to good use at the Discovery Christian College with some huge and exciting plans already in the works,” Mr Bennett said.

“I could not be more proud of what the students and teachers have achieved at the school and I look forward to seeing the planned upgrades become a reality.

“This State Government funding will go towards four general learning areas, student amenities including people with a disability, covered outdoor learning areas, verandahs and covered walkways, furniture, equipment and storage, professional fees, car parks and air conditioning.

“Agnes Water and 1770 is such a vibrant, dedicated and passionate community, it gives me great joy to see the region continue to grow and prosper.”

The subsidy specified is the maximum amount approved, while the actual amount payable will be determined following confirmation of the final coast of the project.

The Queensland Government’s Capital Assistance Supplementary Scheme assists eligible non-state schools to provide, convert, refurbish and upgrade educational facilities or boarding accommodation.
