Community CabinetGladstone will host the next State Government Community Cabinet on 25 and 26 August.

The two-day event is the ninth Community Cabinet held in regional Queensland, following sessions in Goondiwindi, the Fraser Coast, Cairns, Townsville, Kingaroy, the Whitsundays, Ayr and Thursday Island.

Premier Campbell Newman said he was looking forward to bringing his Cabinet to Gladstone.

Member for Burnett, Stephen Bennett encouraged residents to take the opportunity to meet with Ministers.

“By bringing Cabinet to Gladstone, local residents, business operators and industry players will have the chance to talk face-to-face with Ministers about their particular areas of interest or concern,” Mr Bennett said. “LNP Ministers already have a good understanding of the issues facing residents of the Burnett and its surrounding region, particularly the challenges of balancing industrial development with social and lifestyle needs.

“We anticipate a range of issues being raised during deputations, including the draft Central Queensland Regional Plan which was released in June, local health and housing services, public infrastructure and cutting red tape for industry.

“That’s the value of holding Cabinet meetings in regional Queensland – we get an ‘on the ground’ feeling for how things are progressing in communities and get to hear a cross section of views about how we can keep delivering for the people and businesses of central Queensland.

People are encouraged to register for a meeting with Ministers on Sunday 25 August.
