Member for Burnett Stephen Bennett is encourage community groups to apply for funding of up to $35,000 through the Gambling Community Benefit Fund.

Mr Bennett said Round 91 of the Gambling Community Benefit Fund was now open and urged local groups to take advantage of the state government funding.

“The fund is Queensland’s largest one-off grants program, distributing approximately $53 million per year to Queensland communities,” he said.

Mr Bennett said the fund provides one-off grants to not-for-profit organisations to enhance their capacity to provide services, leisure activities and opportunities for communities.

“We have seen some great success in the Burnett region, with many local clubs and community groups scoring significant funding to upgrade their facilities,” he said.

“It’s a great opportunity for local not-for-profit community groups to purchase new equipment and upgrade their resources to benefit their members.

“The latest round of the Gambling Community Benefit Fund alone saw 15 local clubs across the Burnett region share in a total of more than $302,000.

“This vital funding injection is just what our local clubs and community groups need going into the New Year.”

Mr Bennett said applications for Round 91 will close at midnight on Friday, January 13, 2017.
