The region’s state school students would no longer swelter in classrooms under an LNP government, Member for Burnett Stephen Bennett announced.
Mr Bennett said the LNP has pledged to air-condition every state school across the state should the party be elected to government.
“An overwhelmingly number of parents have approached me about the dire need for air-conditioning in our kids’ classrooms and I completely agree with them,” Mr Bennett said.
“Our summers are incredibly warm and our kids aren’t coping.
“We air-condition our parliamentary offices, prisons and hospitals, yet we expect our kids to swelter in classrooms.
“Nothing should be more important than the health and wellbeing of our children and I’m one hundred percent behind making sure classrooms are air-conditioned.”
Mr Bennett said currently the Queensland Government only funds air-conditioning in tropical and western Queensland state schools.
