Burnett Heads residents are fed up with speeding drivers and are taking matters into their own hands.
Locals have joined forces with state MP Stephen Bennett to campaign council to install signage to encourage speedsters to slow down along Zunker Street.
Mr Bennett said his office had received numerous complaints from Burnett Heads residents about drivers blatantly ignoring the 50kmhr speed signs.
“Neighbours tell me this has been an ongoing problem which both police and council are aware of – action needs to be taken before someone is seriously hurt or killed,” he said.
The local Neighbourhood watch group is also calling for a pedestrian crossing.
Mr Bennett said he would fight for safety measures to slow traffic and protect the community.
